Lake Burley Griffin water level to drop for 2 years

The Federal Government has greenlit a $36 million project to strengthen the dissipator of Scrivener Dam. The early work will start in the next couple of weeks, before Christmas (2024) and before the main construction starts in March (2025) of next year. The whole project is set to be completed by mid-2027.

From March, the lake’s water level will also be dropped by 500 mm “for the duration of the project”.

Rowers who will find it difficult to get into a boat due to the reduced water level are welcome to row at LTRC on a monthly membership fee or join the club on a pro rata basis.  There is social rowing on Saturday morning at 07:30, organised crew rowing mid-week or single rowing at your convenience.

Contact the club regarding availability of private boat storage during this time.
