The Lake Tuggeranong Rowing club provides an opportunity for new or returning rowers to learn to row in a safe and friendly environment.
All rowing will be conducted in a Quad Rowboat with one or two experienced rowers to provide guidance and direction on the water. A powered safety boat will also be on the water for safty.
The course consists of 2 non consecutive weekends 09:00 to 12:00 Saturday and Sunday loosely based on the following agenda:
Saturday 9 November Day 1 - Introduction, boat familiarity, handling and boat safety.
Sunday 10 November Day 2 - Learning the principles of the stroke on the indoor rowing machine and on the pontoon. Launching, and getting into the boat with a short row. How to retrieve, wash and rack boats in the shed.
Saturday 23 November Day 3 - Review boat safety and handling. Launch boats and row. Wash and rack boats in the shed.
Sunday 24 November Day 4 - Review boat safety and handling. Review the rowing stroke again for improvement in the boat. Get onto the water quickly to spend as much time in the boat as possible.
Fee: $240.00 Payment method provided after registration.
ALL Rowing is dependent on the weather conditions. Winds above 10/15kmh can make rowing unpleasant and very difficult for inexperienced rowers and most likely prevent the lesson proceeding. Any lightning in the area is an immediate exit from the water and pack up.
